Hi ... Im going to graduate in january 2016. Due to the recent change(not confirmed) on OPT extension I want to apply for CPT in october. Coz if I apply for OPT in january I'll not be eligible to apply for H1 before april 2016. So if I apply for CPT now I can apply for H1 next year. So my question is my I 20 is valid till january 2016. So if I apply for CPT in october 2015 then when shld I apply for OPT? Will the univ give me another I-20?

STEM extension ends in 2016 (if at all) u should still have ur regular one year opt to apply for H1 in April 2016. What are you talking about ?Comment

If you are done with your college, you cannot have a CPT.. OPT is the only option.. And the validity will be 12 months from the date of OPT start..Comment

first thing if the new rule comes it effect only stem not the regular 1 year opt .Comment

You can only get CPT if its related to your curriculum and you can't graduate while on CPT; it has to end before your graduation. OPT is the only option!Comment
