Internship with or without credits

Hi,

My course curriculum does not have credits for internship. So, am I eligible to do an Internship by getting my CPT activated with or without getting credits for that??
If I can get a CPT for this Internship, what is a full time and a part time CPT and paid and unpaid CPT?
If I can not get CPT for this, how am I eligible to do an Internship. This is a very big Internship opportunity and I do not want to forgo this one.

My question is:

The course that I am pursuing right now offers no Class credits for Internship. Where as some other courses do offer credits for the Internship. So, International relations of my school says I am not eligible for CPT for any Internship I want to do. They ask me to get my pre-completion OPT activated.
What I wanted to know is, if I am eligible for CPT even if I don't get class credits for Internship, why do I have to go for pre-completion OPT.

If you can clarify this point if I am eligible for CPT even if I don't get class credits, I can go ahead and ask my school about this.
