When to apply for OPT extension?

I have 7 more months before my initial OPT expires. I don't know when is the right time to apply for the OPT extension?
Some people are suggesting that, It should be applied 6 months before the expiration while others suggest to apply it 3 months prior to the expiration.
I am totally confused as when to apply for the extension? Please suggest.

I think it is more than just applying. Honestly, if you are Indian or have any nationality related to the Eastern Hemisphere that is not apart of Europe, you will get highly scrutinized and victimized. The reason for the denial is not that you have wrong info but one class or certain classes of nationality are extremely higher than others, i.e. Indians, Chinese. So USCIS is allowing other nationalities a chance and limiting you all because your nationality class has reached its quota. That is the true reality.

3 months or 90 days should be sufficient. +- 1.5 weeks depending upon the number of applications received before yours.

You can not apply more than 90 days prior to your initial opt expiration. Also you wont be able to apply once your initial opt expires. And you must be working as a full time employee in an e verified company. Goodluck

Point out the error to your employer and let an attorney decide if a new LCA is needed or not. If you’re not using an attorney (I hope you see why attorneys are needed for applications like the LCA and H-1B) and your employer doesn’t want to spring for one, you should consider refiling the LCA.
