Question got full time job bfore graduating, cannot work on CPT bcoz work place is 400mil away

    Hello

I am a 2013 January admitted student in MS, i got a job which i should join from august 25' 2014 i.e. fulltime position. I completed my course work that is required to graduate but have not filed for graduation because i have time upto dec 2014. now i should work on CPT only i understood that, but the office is located 400miles away from my university. so what are the chances i have to grab the job with maintaining status.

You can work if your DSO approves. You need a letter from your advisor/ department head saying why you need to be in that particular region. Eg. The work related to your major is based in that particular branch of the company..

It shouldn't matter how far the work place is, talk to ur DSO.

My friend he is used to work at Dallas, Texas in CPT and he goes to the university in California it doesn't matter I think

    Talk to your DSO

I don't think it matters where you work. I worked away from my university during CPT. talk to your DSO because CPT is given by the university, and each one might have different rules.

It does matter where you work. If the classes are NOT held online and if attendance is mandatory, they would ask you work at a location at least in the same city as the university is.

Alternatively, if you think you can skip the classes and still manage everything, mention that you are working from home( assuming you have address that is close to Univ). I think there is no way the Univ can figure out where you work even though you enter timesheet at your client location. However from the DSO's perspective your work is mapped to your place of work and they will definitely make it an issue if it is way too far.

Better wait for some more opinions on this suggested work around!
