Question Work permit will expire soon, U.S. employer wants to keep me (but I'll be working abroad), how to handle taxes?

As the title says, my EAD will expire soon (in August), but my U.S. employer wants me to keep working for them, albeit from a different country. I'm currently on W2 (and considered a resident alien based on the substantial presence test).

Since I'm considered a resident alien for the rest of this year, I'm assuming I'll still be subject to U.S. taxes for the remaining of this year; is this accurate? Would I need to file a new W2 (or file another form) when my work permit expires? Or my employer can just keep me on the U.S. payroll despite the change in my immigration status?
