I'm currently under STEM OPT. I have recently accepted a job offer that will start on this upcoming Jan28th. The company is not e-verified, but is willing to be e-verified since it's an easy process and takes little time.

Now the problem, I just checked that the e-verify system is currently down because of a lapse in federal funding. I read that it's due to a large amount of money ($5B) is being used to build a US-Mexico wall border, ordered by Trump. Seems like it's going to take a long time before the system resumes?

So, what should I do?
Should I just go ahead with the job for now?
I read there's this e-verify policies implemented to minimize impact:
"...E-Verify Policies Implemented to Minimize Impact
We understand that E-Verify’s unavailability may have a significant impact on employer operations. To minimize the burden on both employers and employees, the following policies have been implemented:
1. The “three-day rule” for creating E-Verify cases is suspended for cases affected by the unavailability of E-Verify.
2. The time period during which employees may resolve TNCs will be extended. The number of days E-Verify is not available will not count toward the days the employee has to begin the process of resolving their TNCs.
3. We will provide additional guidance regarding “three-day rule” and time period to resolve TNCs deadlines once operations resume.
Employers may not take adverse action against an employee because the E-Verify case is in an interim case status, including while the employee’s case is in an extended interim case status due to the unavailability of E-Verify.
Federal contractors with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause should contact their contracting officer to inquire about extending federal contractor deadlines..."

Does this apply to me?

This is so frustrating if the job offer that I'm really excited about got cancelled not even because of my fault..

Sorry for the super long post.. Any help much appreciated! Thanks!
