    H1 first time stamping

I am traveling to India via Frankfurt for first time H1 stamping. I got change of status approved from F1 to H1 in 2016. My old passport expired Feb 2016 and the F1 stamp expired July 2016. I renewed the passport the same year and there is nothing in the new one. Do I need a transit visa in this case?

Yes you will need a transit visa as your F1 is expired.. airline won’t allow you to board the flight

Not needed. I recently travelled through AMS with no issues.

I traveled via Paris on expired visa. I didn't have any issue. But modi has signed a deal with France - Indians no longer require transit Visa for France. Please call the airline and ask

Regardless of your Visa expiration date, you can travel back to your home country without transit visas at layovers.

Lufthansa will not allow you to travel through Frankfurt. This happened to a friend of mine few months back. However, Delta appears to be more lenient and allows through Amsterdam and Paris.

I booked through travel agent recently. He told me only Amsterdam and Brussels in Europe are safe when travelling on expired visa.
