H1b approved and still on f1 visa status

hi all - My h1b got picked and received an approval notice, but I still see my status as F1 on my latest I 20 that I requested from my university. How do I check on what visa status iam in?
When I tried generating my I94 it says my status as f1.
Please provide your suggestions, if anyone gone through the same.

    Thanks

You may call and check with your college if your SEVIS is still active.

Was your H1 applied using Consular processing or AOS? If the latter, it will automatically be transferred on Oct 1. If it's consular processing you're going to have to go to your home country and activate it.

In my case, I applied for consular processing and was on my F1/OPT till I went back home. My SEVIS was wrongfully marked complete, I had to ask my IS advisor to get it re-instated.

Wait for Approval notice and if it says “Consular Process” in it then you may need to leave the country for stamping immediately.

How do you generate an I-94? It is only created when you enter US. It will not update on it's own because your status changed.
