Can I start my Day one CPT right after the Orientation Day?

Hello everyone. I am currently on STEM-OPT which is expiring on 21st Dec 2018. I got admitted into University of Cumberlands for Spring 2019 which starts on Jan 7, 2019. The Orientation Day is on Dec, 14, 2018 and my University says that I can start my CPT right after the orientation day if I got my Sevis transferred before that.

I was wondering if it is a good idea to start CPT right after Orientation day and not wait for classes to start? I don't want to face any immigration issues later, please provide your valuable suggestions.

If anyone here started their CPT before the classes start date, please comment.

Hi, I'm in the same boat. I started my CPT right after the orientation since work authorization start date was mentioned on the I-20 letter. I'm not sure if USCIS gets to know the classes start-date after orientation.
