I haven't managed to get into any internship. But, I'm working under a professor as a research assistant. Am i eligible to work 40hrs/week as a research assistant during summer? Does it come under CPT?

No! they are 2 different things... But you can still work under your professor for 40 hours/ week during the vacation...surely will add up to ur experience and definitely an add-on on your resume!

WHy do you want to pay the fees of CPT? Simply work under your professor for free. Yes you can work 40 hrs per week during summer

CPT is only when you work off campus (field related job though)
