im an international student(valid F1 status) and also a political asylum applicant. The company(desi consultant) I am working for will be filing H1 next april 2015. I now have regular I-20 (non CPT based) and working with my asylum EAD. My question is will I need CPT based I-20 to file for H1B or can h1B be filed with regular I-20 next year?

When applying for H-1B, you will need to submit the I-20 as well as the EAD you have obtained through the asylum application. If you haven’t done so already, you should speak with an attorney and make sure you have their opinion in writing from an attorney about your ability to work on EAD through asylum while maintaining valid F-1 status.

To what I know, if you do not hold an EAD from F1, you go out of status! Simply possessing EAD from pending asylum does not maintain your status. But if u r still attending college, u should b in status...

Yes, Asylum EAD is being used as a back up plan if i dont get picked in the h1B lottery.
