I did not get selected in the lottery and my F1 Visa as well as OPT(STEM) are expiring soon, Can I extend my stay by getting admitted into a university here and receiving a new i20? Also, can I go to my port of entry to get my F1 Visa stamp after starting school or do I need to get the F1 Visa before joining here?

1. Yes, u can join a univ but keep in mind that your opt will get terminated as soon as the transfer process of sevis done. Plan accordingly and move forward
2. U dont need visa stamp to join a univ if u r already in US. It is required if r travelling outside the country and that too if your F-1 visa is about to expire or expired
