F1 visa purpose is soley for studying in US .. CPT is to encourage the candidates to experience the corporate world not to earn whereas opt is a chance to prove your talent and make these corporate companies to file h1 visa . If a student takes a full time CPt 40 hrs for more then 3 months we are giving uscis more chances of opt denials and queries RFE on it ii hope kiran was trying to explain this.

To be eligible for OPT- Student must not have worked full time for 12 months or more on CPT. Part time CPT is fine.

Its Nothing like you can't, you can work but. If you work full time in CPT then when you apply OPT their is the problem of getting that. I recommend if you get direct client internship then go head and work if not then its better to apply OPT after your course completion even with consultancy or Direct client NP..!!!!!:)

So, what if I work full time on CPT for less than 12 months. Will i be eligible for OPT or are there any problems that would result in the denial of OPT?
