View Full Version : continue on OPT after CPT?

Hi,

I have an internship offer from an employer(in Spring 2014) and they are interested to convert it to fulltime as well after my internship. I'll be working on CPT during Spring 2014 and will be graduating by the end of spring semester. Can I continue working as fulltime employee on OPT after my CPT? If yes, when can I put the end date of CPT? Is it the last day of my graduation? and when can I put the start date of OPT? As I continue working with the same employer, can I have the weekend gap between the end date of CPT and start date of OPT?

Please help me with your advice.

If u r graduating on may start ur opt like around june or july. u can take a weekend gap between cpt and opt. Both are not related.

Talk to u r dso ... for all u r questions ans is yes ..in general schools allow cpt till end of the semester ..
and my advice is plan wisely .. as you have long delay in application process..

Get your CPT till may mid week.. Apply for OPT in the month of April & expedite the process by providing the offer letter for full time from your employer.. So, you can get your OPT by third week of May.. This is the best way you can handle this situation..

The last day of CPT is generally during the last working day of the semester and the start of the OPT is usually the day after your graduation
